In March 2021 P&O sacked its UK seafaring staff without notice. The Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee took evidence on this unlawful decision, the consequences flowing from it, the safety implications, and its effect on the Cairnryan-Larne crossing.
The Committee considered P&O Ferries 17 March announcement on staffing and services, and agreed to invite P&O Ferries to give evidence at a later meeting.
The Committee took evidence from Peter Hebblethwaite, Chief Executive Officer, P&O Ferries. The Committee agreed to write about the evidence session to the Scottish Government, the UK Government, and the Chairs of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee and the Transport Select Committee of the House of Commons.
