1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take items 3, 4 and 5 in private.

2. Housing (Scotland) Bill (in private):

The Committee took evidence on the Bill at Stage 1 from—

Catriona MacKean, Deputy Director of Better Homes, Yvette Sheppard, Head of Housing Services and Rented Sector Reform Unit, Craig McGuffie, Lawyer and Charlotte McHaffie, Private Rented Housing Team Leader, Scottish Government;

and then from—

Christopher Donaldson, Head, Rent Service Scotland.

Mark Griffin MSP declared an interest as having previously owned a private rental property.

3. Housing (Scotland) Bill (in private):

The Committee considered the evidence heard earlier in the meeting.

4. The Civic Government Scotland Act 1982 Licensing of Short term Lets Amendment Order 2024 (in private):

The Committee agreed to write to the Minister for Housing and to take evidence from him on the Order at its meeting on 25 June. 

5. Housing (Scotland) Bill (in private):

The Committee agreed to invite additional witnesses as part of its scrutiny of the Bill at Stage 1.
