1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take items 4 to 6 in private.

2. NHS Boards scrutiny:

The Committee took evidence from—

Jim Miller, Chief Executive, NHS24;

and then from—

Pauline Howie, Chief Executive, Scottish Ambulance Service.

Sandesh Gulhane declared an interest as a practising GP.

Clare Haughey declared an interest as a registered mental health nurse.

3. Subordinate legislation:

The Committee considered the following negative instruments— Food (Scotland) Act 2015 (Compliance Notices) Regulations 2023
National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2023

The Committee agreed to write to Food Standards Scotland in relation to the Food (Scotland) Act 2015 (Compliance Notices) Regulations 2023.

The Committee agreed to make no recommendations in relation to the instruments.

4. NHS Boards scrutiny:

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 2.

5. Experiences of the Complex Mesh Surgical Service:

The Committee considered and agreed a draft letter to the Minister for Public Health and Women’s Health.

6. Pre-budget scrutiny 2024-25:

The Committee considered and agreed its approach to pre-budget scrutiny for the budget period 2024-25.
