1. Subordinate legislation:

The Committee heard evidence on the Police Act 1997 (Offences in Schedules 8A and 8B) Amendment (Scotland) Regulations 2022 and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Amendment (No. 2) Order 2022 from—



Clare Haughey, Minister for Children and Young People, Scottish Government.



2. Subordinate legislation:

Clare Haughey, Minister for Children and Young People moved—S6M-06431—That the Education, Children and Young People Committee recommends that the Police Act 1997 (Offences in Schedules 8A and 8B) Amendment (Scotland) Regulations 2022 be approved.

The Committee agreed unanimously. 


3. Subordinate legislation:

Clare Haughey, Minister for Children and Young People moved—S6M-06432—That the Education, Children and Young People Committee recommends that the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Amendment (No. 2) Order 2022 be approved.

The Committee agreed unanimously.


4. Work programme (In Private):

The Committee considered its work programme and correspondence that it had received.

The Committee agreed to write to all local authorities regarding communications around funded ELC for children whose entry to primary 1 will be deferred.

The Committee also agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills regarding college governance.


5. Colleges Regionalisation Inquiry (In Private):

The Committee considered its approach to its report.
