The Committee agreed to take items 3 and 4 in private.

The Committee took evidence from—

Professor Jagjit Chadha, Director, National Institute of Economic and Social Research;

Emma Congreve, Deputy Director, Fraser of Allander Institute;

Susan Murray, Director, David Hume Institute.

The Committee considered the evidence heard earlier in the meeting.

4. Correspondence (In Private):

The Committee noted correspondence from the Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee about the establishment of an EU tracker to support the Parliament’s scrutiny of the Scottish Government’s commitment to align with EU law.

5. Work programme (In Private):

The Committee considered approach papers. It agreed (1) to launch an inquiry exploring policy to support a Just Transition with an initial focus on the Grangemouth area, the terms of reference and the call for written views, (2) that the Committee’s future scrutiny workstreams in this policy area will focus on the North East and Moray and the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund, and (3) to undertake preliminary scrutiny work to consider the disability employment gap and seek views.
