1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take item 4 in private.


2. Subordinate legislation:

The Committee considered the following negative instruments—

The Police Service of Scotland (Amendment) Regulations 2024 (SSI 2024/179)

Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (Permitted Disclosure of Information) Order 2024 (SSI 2024/220)

The Committee agreed to make no recommendations in relation to the instruments. 


3. Food Standards Scotland - tackling food crime:

The Committee took evidence from—

Ron McNaughton, Head of the Scottish Food Crime and Incidents Unit and Ian McWatt, Deputy Chief Executive, Food Standards Scotland.


4. Food Standards Scotland - tackling food crime (In Private):

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 3. The Committee agreed to write to Glasgow City Council, COSLA and the Scottish Funding Council in relation to various issues raised during the evidence session.


5. Work programme (In Private):

The Committee considered its work programme. The Committee agreed to have regard to the SPA Board meeting of 26 September 2024 in relation to Police Scotland's policy on gender self-identification and to reconsider this issue again at a later date.
