Letter from Convener of the Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee to the Convener, 5 October 2021

At its meeting on 28 September 2021, the Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee considered correspondence from the Minister for Parliamentary Business in relation to the UEFA European Championship (Scotland) Act 2020 (Championship Period and Transitory Provision etc.) Regulations 2021 (SSI 2021/207). The Committee was satisfied with the response.
The Committee also discussed the operation of the Championships in Scotland and whether the UEFA European Championship (Scotland) Act 2020 might be reviewed to learn any lessons from its implementation. This might be of particular benefit should any future high-profile events require similar legislation in the future. The Committee acknowledged that any such review was outwith its remit but agreed to highlight its discussion to your Committee given the Culture, Tourism, Europe and External Affairs Committee considered the Bill in Session 5.
