Petitioner submission of 13 January 2022
PE1922/B - Cancel all Local Authority expenditure on Gaelic expansion
In response to the Scottish Government submission, I feel that –
- The information that Gaelic was (arguably) the predominantly language 400/500/600 years ago is irrelevant
- We should not confuse demand for Gaelic in schools with the demand for smaller class sizes.
- There is already too much street furniture and this will be exacerbated by doubling the language content
- Most of all, no-one is coming forward with figures on how much this is costing
