Sustainability and the environment

We’re very proud of our commitment to sustainable development and we have an ambitious target to be net zero by 2038. We work hard to go above and beyond our public sector body statutory duties. We’ve created a culture of open discussions to help us improve our sustainability performance. We’re playing our part in responding to the challenges brought about by the climate and nature emergencies.

How you can make a difference

We empower staff from across the organisation to get involved with sustainable development initiatives. This means that you’ll have the opportunity to work with colleagues from across the Parliament on something you’re passionate about through collaboration and innovation.

You’ll also be given the opportunity to develop your career in line with sustainable development through training. We’ve partnered with the Royal Scottish Geographical Society to deliver the Climate Solutions Professional certificate.

You’ll be more than welcome to join a number of initiatives that we run. This includes:

  • our Sustain staff network
  • wildflower planting
  • biodiversity walks around the local area

We’re also very keen to hear from you about what other initiatives we could adopt. Working at the Parliament will provide a fantastic opportunity for you to influence our performance and have your voice heard.

You can learn more about the work we do, the policies we have and our commitments by visiting our Sustainability pages.
