This meeting will give conveners their first opportunity to question the First Minister since his appointment on his vision for Scotland and the outcomes he and his government aim to achieve by 2026.
The Scottish Government’s priorities for the remainder of the current session, as set out in the “Equality, opportunity, community: New leadership - A fresh start” publication will be the focus of questioning with key themes of poverty, the environment, economy, and support for public services in the spotlight.
The group’s meeting with the First Minister is set to last for an hour and a half and will be broadcast live on the Scottish Parliament’s website.
Speaking ahead of the session, Deputy Presiding Officer and Chair of the Conveners Group Liam McArthur MSP said:
“This session will give conveners the opportunity to jointly question the new First Minister, early on in his Premiership, on his vision and priorities for the Scottish Government as well as issues of interest to the work of Parliament’s committees.
“These regular sessions are a key part of how the Scottish Parliament can provide effective scrutiny of Government and the First Minister’s ambitions for Scotland between now and 2026.”
Pupils from Aboyne Academy, which provides secondary school education for the communities of mid and upper Deeside in Aberdeenshire, will be in attendance to watch the session from the public gallery.
