When the Office of the Clerk is open, these are called ‘counting days’.
Counting days are important in running parliamentary business.
On counting days, motions, amendments and questions may be lodged and Bills can be introduced. They are also used to calculate timeframes for:
- answers to be given to written parliamentary questions
- minimum periods between stages of Bills
- the lodging of amendments to Bills
- the management of Members’ and Committee Bills.
