Session 6 Member diversity

The Gender Sensitive Audit recommended asking the Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) to:

  • update and extend MSP Diversity data
  • issue diversity monitoring forms to all MSPs at the start of each session
  • explore presenting longitudinal and intersectional diversity data publicly

SPICe issued a Member diversity monitoring form to all MSPs during Spring 2024, on behalf of the Gender Sensitive Parliament Advisory Group. Only 20% of MSPs responded.

SPICe and the Gender Sensitive Parliament Advisory Group are grateful to the Members who participated and have identified next steps for increasing the response rate ahead of Session 7.

SPICe will ensure, via consultation with other offices in the Parliament, that the process for gathering data at the start of a new session, from both new and returning Members, be embedded in Session 7 planning.
